`MONKEE’ AROUND: VH1 is looking for the perfect Micky, Davy, Peter and Mike
to play the lead roles in the network’s upcoming original movie “The
Monkees.” (And no, they don’t have to play their own instruments.) On
Thursday, VH1 will hold open auditions in both New York and Los Angeles to
cast four young men to portray the original Monkees as rock music’s original
Pre-Fab Four. Only the first 1,000 applicants will be auditioned for the
roles of Mike Nesmith, Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones, who
themselves were cast under similar circumstances for the 1966-68 television
series. The film is slated to begin production in mid-March in Toronto. Hey
