“Well, isn’t this cool?”, Micky Dolenz giggles after performing another live rendition of the Monkees first hit ‘Last Train To Clarksville’. The main difference in this performance is that Micky is backed by The American Metropole Orchestra. Taking place at the Rice Auditorium at Western Oregon University in Monmouth, Oregon on April 15th, 2017, this special concert under the title ‘Out Of Nowhere’, is the latest entry by 7a Records, continuing their incredible streak of high quality Monkees related releases. Executive producers Iain Lee and Glenn Gretlund managed to arrange for this special concert to be professionally recorded so that fans who were not fortunate enough to be able to attend can now enjoy it.

Dolenz is in great voice and the orchestral arrangements of Monkees’ classics like ‘Sometime In The Morning’, ‘D.W. Washburn’, ‘A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You’, ‘Daydream Believer’ and more gives the familiar Monkees tunes, with an orchestra backing them, a unique dimension. ‘Porpoise Song’ in particular shines from the full orchestra. Micky is obviously having a lot fun as is evident by his enthusiastic performance.

In addition to releasing the concert on cd, 7a Records has also issued ‘Out Of Nowhere’ as a beautiful, limited edition picture disc with wonderful photos of Micky Dolenz gracing both sides of the disc. The sleeve notes by Iain Lee gives added background on this special performance.

‘Out Of Nowhere’ by Micky Dolenz and The American Metropole Orchestra is a special and historic concert that should be owned, listened to and enjoyed by all Monkees fans.

My wife, my 2 children and I were at this concert on Apr. 15, 2017. My daughter who was 13 at the time said this was the a great concert because she could understand the words. My son who was 10 at the time said Micky sounded like he does on The Monkees TV show. We have the show on DVD. I have the picture disc record and was disappointed that you cannot really hear the crowd singing on “Daydream Believer”. Also, this is not the complete concert because he sang “Johnny B. Good” as tribute to Chuck Berry and told the story of how the song was used for his Monkees audition. This is my 5th time seeing Micky Dolenz. I saw him in 1989 with Davy Jones & Peter Tork, in 1993 & 2002 with Davy Jones, & in 2013 with Mike Nesmith & Peter Tork. Every concert has been great. This was my kids first time seeing Micky Dolenz. I hope to be able to bring the kids to a future Monkees concert.
