Monkee Business Fanzine Monkees News Update

The Monkees are EVERYWHERE on television this summer:

Check your local listings for syndicated repeats of the Monkees’
original TV series, being aired all over the U.S. this summer.

VH-1 will air their biographical movie on the Monkees, “Daydream
Believers”, on June 28, with numerous repeats thereafter. Also,
VH-1 will premiere a “Behind The Music” episode on the Monkees on June
25. Monkees episodes are expected to run on VH-1 on June 28 prior to
the debut of the movie.

According to VH-1’s website,

Dolenz, and “Daydream Believers” stars L.B. Fisher and George Stanchev
will chat live on AOL on June 28 at 7:30 pm.

Cable channel American Movie Classics will air the Monkees’ film “HEAD”
on July 4 at 7:45 am and 5 pm (Eastern time).

Rhino Records’ Handmade division will be releasing a 3-CD set
chronicling the making of the Monkees’ album “Headquarters”. The
compilation makes use of unreleased demos, backing tracks, studio
chatter, song fragments, and early versions of tracks. The complete
track listing is available at www.rhinohandmade.com. “Headquarters
Sessions” will be pressed in extremely limited quantities.

Micky has several irons in the fire this year professionally, but he
will still find time to tour with the Teen Idols (Micky, Bobby Sherman,
and Peter Noone) this summer. He will also do a few solo dates with his
sister Coco—they’ve put together a show just for kids, where they’ll
do some Monkees tunes, some “Broadway Micky” stuff, and some Raffi
tunes.

Micky will take part in the American Cinematheque’s annual film
festival. On July 2, Micky will be in attendance at a screening of the
Monkees’ “33 1/3 Revolutions Per Monkee”, along with the unaired Monkees
pilot episode, at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Boulevard,
Hollywood, CA. The screening is at 2 pm, and tickets may be purchased
at the box office on the day of the event or in advance. Also, on the
evening of July 2, Micky will take part in the film festival’s “60s Tea
Party” concert—concert tickets may be purchased in advance at the box
office or by calling 323-461-2020 (then press 123). All the info is at

Michael Nesmith is working on his movie, “Fried Pies”, a second novel,
The America Gene, and he is opening another branch of his company
Videoranch in California.
Nez was recently interviewed in VH-1’s documentary on the history of the
music video, “Video Killed The Radio Star”. Watch for repeats.
Anchor Bay Entertainment will be releasing some of Nez’s films on DVD
for the first time: “Timerider” will come out spring 2001, “Tapeheads”
will be issued October 2000, “Michael Nesmith–Live At The Britt” will
come out November 2000, and “Repo Man” sees release Aug. 22, 2000. In a
preview of “Timerider”, Nez’s company Videoranch will release the
