Peter Tork’s Cancer Reoccurs

By Eric R. Danton | The Hartford Courant
1:24 PM EDT, June 11, 2009

Peter Tork, formerly of The Monkees, was part of the first class to graduat=
e
from E.O. Smith High School in Mansfield. He currently lives in Mansfield.

Peter Tork’s cancer has recurred, a spokeswoman for the Mansfield resident
and former Monkee said Thursday.

“The doctors have given him an excellent chance, 80 percent, of containing
this new tumor and shrinking it, said Therra C. Gwyn, who described Tork as
“shaken but not stirred” by the news.

Tork had been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer earlier this year and ha=
d
undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatment successfully enough to have
resumed performing in recent weeks, including gigs in Mansfield and
Manchester.

The singer and guitarist, who now performs as Shoe Suede Blues, will
continue radiation treatment, Gwyn said.

“He states unequivocally that he’s planning on carrying on for a long time,=

she said.
