The musical, is to be titled Monkee Business and will be premiered at Manchester Opera House in March before moving on to other UK cities, reports BBC News.

The show will feature a 20-strong cast and its producers have promised it will feature a “Madcap Austin Powers-style plot”. All the group’s hit singles, including ‘I’m A Believer’, ‘Hey, Hey We’re The Monkees’ and ‘Daydream Believer’ will be included as part of the show.

The Monkees, who found fame after being put together for a TV show that shared their name in 1966, were recently forced to scrap the final ten dates of their North American tour over “business issues”. The band subsequently denied reports that drummer Micky Dolenz’s alleged substance abuse was the cause of the cancellation. The band reunited earlier this year to celebrate their 45th anniversary as a band.
