Former Monkee Peter Tork Fights Cancer
(March 4) – A rare form of cancer has been discovered on the tongue of
ex-Monkees member Peter Tork, who will undergo surgery this week in New York
City.
The 67-year-old oldies legend told

* he has been diagnosed with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma, a cancer most
commonly found in a person’s salivary glands. Doctors are optimistic after a
biopsy showed the cancer hasn’t spread beyond the initial site.

She looked fine at the opening of Georgio Armani’s new store in NYC
Tuesday night (pictured), but later *Solange Knowles* collapsed on a
plane after taking NyQuil to battle a cold. She was rushed to a hospital in
Los Angeles after the plane touched down, and is now out and feeling better.

Former Death Row rap impresario *Marion ‘Suge’ Knight* is being treated
in the hospital for facial injuries he sustained in a fight outside a
Scottsdale, Ariz. hotel early Monday. Police actually stopped the fight and
arrested two men, including Akon’s business manager.

*Amy Winehouse* was rushed to the hospital on Feb. 13 after collapsing on
her extended vacation in St. Lucia. The ‘Rehab’ singer will be fine, but
sources say she was “a shaking mess” when she was admitted. Her rep tells
The Sun that Winehouse had run out of her medication for battling drug
addiction.

TV icon Peter Falk is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, according to
his daughter who filed legal papers saying the actor “requires full-time
custodial care for his health and safety.” However, Falk’s wife opposes his
daughter’s legal action.

After surgery, Tork will have to undergo radiation.
“I am extraordinarily grateful, amazed and humbled by the encouragement,
affection and support I’ve received so far,” said Tork, who expects to get
back to work in a matter of months. “Barring any complications, I fully
expect to honor a performance dateI have this June with (current band) Shoe
Suede Blues.”
Tork is best known for his role as the bowl cut-wearing
multi-instrumentalist in The Monkees, a made-for-TV band that over time
evolved into legitimate artists. Their many hits include ‘Last Train to
Clarksville’ and ‘Daydream Believer.’
When asked if he’d ever reunite with Micky Dolenz, Davy Jones and Michael
Nesmith to tour again, Tork said, “Well, never say never.”
