Message From Ward Sylvester (Davy & Bobby’s manager):

Davy has decided he does not wish to do any further Idols dates, including
the ones already booked. Bobby and Peter wish to continue to do concerts
together. We are contacting promoters of the scheduled Idols dates to offer
them the option of continuing with just Bobby and Peter or adding a new
third performer. Until we have their response, we cannot say which of the
dates currently scheduled will go on. I’ll let you know as soon as I know.

promises to pass that info on to us as soon as it becomes available.

A news update from Davy’s Daydream Believers

RE: Teen Idols Tour

These are the facts from Davy himself…

The idea of a “Teen Idols Concert Tour” was first instigated by Davy. He had
proposed the idea to Peter Noone over the years (after Davy and Peter
appeared together on a Teen Idols segment on the Oprah Winfrey show) and the
Summer of 1998 saw Davy and Peter Noone join with Bobby Sherman and Davy’s
concept of a Teen Idols Concert Tour become a reality.

From the beginning, Davy proposed that the 3 stars interact with each other
on stage, taking the stage together at the beginning and reuniting for a bow
at the end of the show. In between, each would have the opportunity to put
together their own distinctive act.

According to Davy, although it was apparent that Peter Noone and Bobby
Sherman were not not able to work out a mutual agreement for the premise of
the show in which the three of them would interact, Davy decided to stay
with the Tour “to fulfill my commitment to the group”. Davy also says “the
show did NOT work out the way it was supposed to, or the way the fans
wanted. The interaction between the 3 of us was the whole idea behind our
performing together. It was to be similar to the very successful
“Fabian-Frankie Avalon-Bobby Rydell, Golden Boys of Bandstand Tour.”

When it came time to book and renegotiate for this summer’s Teen Idol Tour,
Davy says he “could not remain true to himself and continue with the same
show that was presented to the fans last summer.” “I don’t want to be
labeled as a one-dimensional artist… I want to give the fans more.”

Davy’s talents for staging a show are undeniable and he was faced with much
disappointments as Peter Noone and Bobby Sherman continued to be content to
do only isolated spots in the concert.

Davy says he “couldn’t be happier” that Micky will be brought in to fill the
spot he will leave vacant on the Tour, and adds he “wishes the guys the Best
of Luck and continued success.” (Note: If you have not already heard, Monkee
Micky Dolenz is to fill Davy’s vacated Teen Idols Tour spot)

Davy says he will NOT be included in any of the upcoming Teen Idols shows,
not even those that have already been booked and confirmed, or dates for
which tickets are presently being sold. “My last Teen Idols concert was in
Miami on March 30″, Davy confirms. Davy also reported that because of his
departure from the Teen Idols Tour “it will open up dates for some
additional solo shows”, several of which are currently in negotiation.

Aside from Davy’s touring, Davy says he has also been offered a syndicated
radio program called “Rock n Roll in the Movies” – which he would host. This
program covers the history of Rock n Roll as depicted in the movies. Davy
says he is currently reviewing the script and considering the offer.

Davy also wanted to let everyone know, he also has plans to release a new CD
for distribution through Hercules Promotions, his mail order company. The
recording will include LIVE tracks from Davy’s most recent tour of Japan.

And before closing Davy also expressed his appreciation to the fans, for
their “unending support and continued friendship”.

All the above as told to Davy’s Daydream Believers, April 6, 1999.

This following article can be found in the 8-21 April 1999 issue of
Jackpot! on page 23.
Jackpot! is a free guide to casino entertainment for southern Mississippi
and Louisiana.

No Monkeeing around, Davy Jones to perform at Grand

GULFPORT – As a member of the band, The Monkees, Davy Jones is one of the
world’s most recognized performers. Schoolgirl crushes reappear when Jones
is in the room.
The English singer known for such hits as “Daydream Believer” and
“Valleri,” will perform in the Grand Showroom at Grand Casino Gulfport on
Saturday, April 17. Jones performs for free at 8 and 10p.m.
It was the role of the Artful Dodger in the London musical, Oliver!, in
1960 that brought Jones to America. His performance took him to the
Broadway production, and soon he made an appearance on The Ed Sullivan
Show. His talent earned him a recording contract, and the young performer
had gained so much popularity and attention, that something was needed to
boost his career into the stratosphere.
Thus, The Monkees were born, and from 1966-68, the television Monkees
became a real musical group, recording nine albums with 10 Top 20 hits.
Their success was nothing short of a phenomenon, with Jones singing lead on
their most popular hits, including “I Want To Be Free” and “A Little Bit
Me, A Little Bit You.”
A 30th Anniversary World Tour of The Monkees occurred in 1996, with a
reunion of all four of the original performers – Jones, Dolenz, Peter Tork,
and Mike Nesmith. At the time, the band released a new album.

Peace and Love,

From: “Lou Monkee_junkie” Subject: Davy Jones Concert Review

Here is a review of Davy Jones’ concert held Saturday April 10, 1999
at Robert Morris College. It was a fanastic concert, take my word
for it!!!

The Allegheny Times/Beaver Newspapers, Inc. – Pennsylvania – Sunday
April 11, 1999:

“It was more fun than a barrel of Monkees” – By Scott Brady/Times
Staff

It’s been 33 years since someone made a Monkee out of Davy Jones.
The enduring image of Jones – as the adorable singer for that 1960s
group – continues to entice fans. Nearly 2,000 of them flocked
Saturday to the Sewall Center, on the Robert Morris College campus in
Moon Township, to see Jones perform Monkees songs. “I grew up with
Davy Jones and the Monkees” spectator Cheryl Hyatt of Economy said.
“He’s one of those good guys from way back. And he’s so good
looking.” Pam Gilbert also thinks the 53-year-old Jones is hot. She
left her husband back home in Danville, Pa., to drive four hours to
see the show. Where are some of the places she has seen Jones
perform? “Ask me where I haven’t seen him. That would be easier,”
Gilbert said. She almost did not get to see Jones in Moon Township.
In Florida, training one of his racehorses, Jones discovered his
Saturday flight from West Palm Beach was unexpectedly cancalled. He
had to drive to Fort Lauderdale, where he caught a standby US Airways
flight to Pittsburgh. Jones arrived in the nick of time and in good
spirits. In his dressing room, minutes before the show, he posed
with Moon Township volunteer firemen and joked about his misfortune
of being stuck with spring break co-eds. Jones came to Moon at the
invitation of the fire department, which will use proceeds from the
show to bolster its general fund. The Sewall Center was the perfect-
size venue, intimate enough to let people feel close to the action.
And Jones gave them plenty of action. He dusted off old dance steps,
and even older jokes, during a spirited 90-minute set, featuring
Monkees’ classics like “I’m A Believer,” “Valleri” and “A Little Bit
Me, A Little Bit You,” as well as what turned into a mass singalong
of the “Brady Bunch” theme. Dismiss it as “bubble gum” music if you
like; the crowd savored every second of it. Especially the female
spectators, many of whom showered Jones with flowers and shouts of
“We love you Davy.” “Are there any Monkee fans here tonight?” Jones
asked. When the crowd roared its approval, Jones deadpanned, “Then
you’re either very young or very old. That’s all I can say.” Beaver
Valley’s the Jaggerz got the party rolling promptly at 7:30 p.m. with
smoking renditions of “Havin A Party” and “Some Kind Of Wonderful.”
The venerable local band has added a horn section that punctuates its
tight sound. Turtle Creek’s Vogues followed exciting the crowd with
their 1960s hit songs “My Special Angel,” Turn Around Look At Me” and
“Five O’Clock World.”

Subject: Monkee Movie in “Spin”

In the May 1999 issue of “Spin” magazine (pg 60, ‘Meat Loaf, The
Movie?’) they poke fun at VH-1’s notion to do made-for-TV movies about
artists including The Monkees. “Spin” gives its suggestions for who
should be casted including Michael J. Fox as Davy, Robert Carlyle as
Micky, Woody Harrelson as Peter, and James Woods as Mike; the plot
(the group falls apart after a duel between Davy and Micky); and the
pivotal scene (too lame to retype!).

I was at Kentucky Fried Chicken today, and in the kid’s meals there are
Secret Files of the Spy Dogs figures. Micky is the voice of two of the
characters on that show in case you did not know. Well, I just thought you
might like to know that. I thought it was pretty cool.
Peace,
Ashley : )

Magnetic South /Loose Salute – 2 on 1 CD released 26th April

The 22 track CD featuring Magnetic South and Loose Salute comes housed in a card cover with the CD case inside. It has a clear tray featuring a b/w picture of Mike. It comes with a colour booklet with notes by Sid Griffin.

Track 22 is the unreleased 1st National Dance (Instrumental) – apart from Mike coming in near the end sounding like he is at a barn dance telling the people how to dance.

Best wishes
