Monkee Business Fanzine Monkees News Update
updated February 12, 2001

Although the Monkees continue to plan their solo tour schedules, they will
definitely
be joining forces for a short tour March 1 through April 6. The dates are
listed
below—some are confirmed, some are still being confirmed and could
change, and
there’s still room for further additions. For updates, check here or David
Fishof’s
official tour website, www.monkees2001.com, or www.pollstar.com.

The reunion tour is being handled by David Fishof, who produced the guys’ 1986
tour. Fishof recently became Davy Jones’ personal manager and wants to steer
Davy’s career back toward the stage and the musical theater—he also
envisions
the Monkees’ tour leading up to a stint on Broadway.

Davy, Micky, and Peter did a photo shoot recently for an upcoming issue of
“Vanity Fair” magazine (David Fishof tells us it will be the
April issue), and
their upcoming reunion has already been profiled on “Entertainment
Tonight”.

The Monkees traveled to Orlando, FL, in early February, to record
new versions of three Monkees classics, “Valleri”, “Steppin’
Stone”,
and “Daydream Believer”. The three tracks will appear on the
live album generated by the tour, and hopefully, Fishof says, one
of the new recordings will go to radio as a single in early March.
The recording was done at music mogul Lou Pearlman’s studios—
his latest proteges, Natural, described in “Pollstar” as “a
boy band
that plays instruments”, provided background vocals on the three
tracks and will open for the Monkees on their March and April
tour dates. The tour is also expected to generate a live concert
TV special and DVD.

Micky will make a personal appearance in Philadelphia, PA, Feb. 14. He’ll be

Game. The free event will be held Wednesday night, Feb. 14, at Dave &
Buster’s in Philadelphia in their 400-seat showroom. Call 215-413-1951 for
directions, and plan to arrive early—WMGK says last year they couldn’t fit
all the people who showed up. Doors open at 7 pm, and the event runs
8 pm to 9:30 pm.
WMGK expects Micky to make an on-air visit on their morning show on
Feb. 14—local listeners can tune in at 102.9 FM, elsewhere you can listen
on the web at www.wmgk.com. WMGK is trying to arrange other local media
appearances for Micky while he’s in town. He’s confirmed to appear on Fox
29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” Wednesday morning sometime between 8
and 9 am.
And he’s just about confirmed for ABC-6’s “Philly After
Midnight”, airing
Tuesday late night at 12:35 am.

Micky has several irons in the fire this year professionally—he directed a
movie in January and will direct another in April—but he will still find
time
to tour with the Monkees, with the Teen Idols (Micky, Bobby Sherman, and Peter
Noone), and in his own solo rock’n’roll show of Monkes hits and rock’n’roll
classics, backed by his band and his sister Coco on vocals.
