brand new MONKEES tribute band in the L.A. area and are

looking for musician/actors for the roles of DAVY JONES and MICHAEL 
NESMITH.  To play 

Davy, you must be able to sing like him and play guitar.  Your physical 
appearance is

very important.  To portray Michael, you MUST be able to play fluent lead 
and rhythm

guitar (lots of solos and licks) and sing like Mike.  If you are serious

Saw them at Manchester recently - 
brill.  Talked David's sisters into taking us backstage, which they did,

I came upon this page by

I was 18 years old in 1966 when the Monkees TV show first 
aired. I loved 

the show and music then, and I love the show and music just as much 

31 years later. It never mattered to me that they didn't play their own 

instruments in the beginning....it was, and still is, great music. Their 
new 

album....Justus....fantastic! Perhaps the best they have ever done. Keep up

the good work guys!

Hello and Happy Easter from me, Loaf. The Loafmeister, and 
recently dubbed in England Sir Loafalot. I work up close and personal with 
the guys and it is a real treat. Some of you may have seen me playing 
keyboards for the Davy & Micky together again 95 tour. Now my title and 
role has somewhat changed and I am now Stage Manager although my main 
duties are taking care of the guitars and making sure everything runs 
smoothly during a show. It was so awesome to finally meet Papa Nez! He is 
the coolest! His son Jason and Nancy Boy are also quite awesome. What a 
great sound they have especially with Donavan's son Donavan singing!!!! 
Check them out on Electra records! Anyway, stay tuned for the summer thing. 
Nobody knows yet exactly what will happen but it will most likely be

     i wish i had found this home page a long time ago.  i have been a fan 
     of 

the monkees since i was about 7 (i am 21years old now)  when the show used 
to come 

nickolodean.  i only have two of there tapes because i haven't found the 
one i want

yet.  it has starcollector, valerie, and daydream believer on one tape.  i 
don't 

think there is one like that.  anyway, when i was little i had a major 
crush on davy

and i even wrote him a letter but i never sent because then i didn't know 
where.  on

a sad note... when i was little i had several episodes on vhs when my 
brother (who 

was not a fan) taped over them and i cried and cried.  then (dah dah dah 
dahhhhh) my

mother bought me a monkees magazine she picked up on her travels and i was 
very 

happy.  i now have two episodes that i bought from the store and another 
magazine my

mother got me.  i am still a fan and would love to see them in concert.

listening to them.  For the past several years I had put my Monkees albums 
away thinking that I had outgrown them.  Recently, I pulled them out again, 
just for "Kicks" and realized that they have a lot more value

      I think it's a wicked groovy idea, putting the episodes on VH1.

If you didn't know about this, well now you do. On April 21, 1997, VH1 is

running all of the episodes from 7am-8pm and then 9pm-2am. After that, they

are running them every weeknight at 10pm, and Saturday morning at 10am. 
I've

been hoping for this and now it's here!!! YIPEE!!!!

How can I find the tour dates 
for 1967-69? I have 3 Monkees posters from the Sacramento

Fair Show, but I'm not sure of the year. They say Sept 4th with special

I'm upset that so many people just write off the Monkees as cold-blooded

concert, he is obviously not a  Monkees fan, otherwise he would have been 
able to 

appreciate the antics that he criticized, and no song would have been 
unfamiliar.

Saw them in concert at Ontario Place in Toronto a few years ago - I had 

always wondered what had happened after their show went off the air.

unpretentious, informative, entertaining documentary on one of the bands

My parents turned me on to the Monkees 
when I was in 4th grade.  I love that band, they totally rock and the t.v.

Hi, I have been a monkees fan for the last 15 years and I am only 21

The Monkees are just brilliant and their music is so timeless.  My 
favourite album has

to be Justus and Headquarters.  I recently saw them at London's Wembley 
Arena and they

were the best.  I must say Micky is my favourite and he is even more 
gorgeous than he

was 30 years ago.

Micky Dolenz pulled up in a Ford Taurus, on August 4, 1995, at the

Frontier City Ampatheater in Oklahoma.  His car was only two feet from

when it stopped.  He looked straight into my eyes and smiled.  Then he

got out of his car with his gang.  He waved at me and my friend and then

just turned and walked into one of the exhibits.  Then my friend and I 

got to be on the news telling how great The Monkees are, and why we 

LOVE them.  I will never forget that day.

Well what can I say! I know that all of u are probably the biggest fans eva 
but I

think I might have to say that I am #1.................. j/k. Well i'm 
probably bloody 

near anyway. My whole life revolves around Monkees, school, monkees, 
eating, 

monkees, sleeping, Monkees and of course Monkees. No day passes by without 
a thought 

of Davy's lucious face, Mickey's witty humor and facials, Peter's innocence 
and 

Mike's wool hat (and Mike himself of course). I hate absolutely none of 
their songs

and I dont see how anybody could, and I also feel like killing anyone who 
says they suck.

Sometimes I hate my friends so much because of this. I have spent about 
$200 bucks 

NZ so far on Monkee stuff (I have to import) and I finally got some CDs. 
God it is 

one of the best things I ever bought. I LOVE THE MONKEES SO SO MUCH. They 
are 4

beautiful people that will never die in my heart. And this isnt the 
pathetic puppy 

love either, may I tell you, this is the real thing!!!!!!!!!!! I honestly 
think I

will faint in a concert. I even got a Mike's hat knitted. I wear it 
everywhere. 

(kirs yours will be coming soon) and even by volleyball team is called THE 

TEXAS PARERIE CHICKENS and we are gonna get little bages made for each 
player.

Our netball team is called the IGBMAD's (I'm Gonna Buy Me A Dog). Even 
though

there are only 2 Monkee lovers in the team. My life is monkee inflicted. I 
just need 

to see if I change my basketball teams name now.

Hey, Hey Monkees' Fans. Just wanted to give my 
two cents worth regarding the song,

"If I Learn To Play The Violin" on the Monkees CD Rom. I can 
understand why this song

remained unreleased for so long. It has a good melody line and 
instrumentation, with

a nice Davy Jones vocal, but the lyrics are laughable. This goes on my 
list, next to

"The Day We Fall In Love", as one of the worst Monkees songs ever 
recorded. (No reflection 

on the Monkees themselves, this was recorded during the sessions for 
"More of the 

Monkees" when they no control of their songs, so you can put the blame 
fully on the

original producers for this one.) To add something special to the CD Rom, 
Rhino should

have picked a better unreleased song, or even an alternate take of another 
song. Oh well,

what can you do other than write and complain, right? 

Looking forward to the 1997 tour, hope to see many of you there too.

just read on the Micky Dolenz home page that Mike won't be completing the 
tour 

with the other guys.  It says that he's working on a script for a movie.  I 
think

that's great, but I still wish he'd tour.  They were only talking about 20 
venues

over three months.  Why can't he just do it!  I find it very disappointing 
that 

the country where the Monkees began is the one that misses out on the tour 
with 

all four of them.  I hope he changes his mind, but I doubt he will.

great nostalgia.  For you younger fans, it's an eye opening article

we were reading some old guestbook entries and

well, well, well, not that we wanna pick old wounds, but we have 

experienced the perverted ways of a certain monkee that we will 

not reaveal but will say wasn't micky, davy or mike.  this monkee,

who isn't micky,davy or mike, asked our older looking 13 year old 

friend, while backstage after a fantastic concert, jokingly, if

she would "wanna go to bed with him".  of course she said he'd 
probably 

get arrested and moved on to get micky's autograph, but the

monkee, who is not micky,davy or mike later kissed one of us, who is

writing this, on the lips, without being asked first, although I

didn't really mind at the time, actually we thought it was pretty cool, 

but now that we are a year older and a year wiser, we realize

he is and was a 50 year old man and a perve.  However, THE MONKEES STILL

ROCK even if they are perves, and we still love peter, oops we mean the

It is very interesting to hear the early music being played and sung on 
today's

high tech instruments and sound equipment, not to mention 4 wonderful 
singing

voices.  It sounded so much better than it did all those years ago when it 
was

played on my mono vinyl disc player.

Seeing the Monkees on TV again really takes me back to my childhood. When I 
was in 

elementary school in the '70s (this would make me a 2nd generation fan, I 
presume),

my sisters and I would literally run home from the bus stop to see the 
Monkees on TV. 

Micky was my favorite, and Davy ruled with my two sisters. 



I was lucky enough to see the Monkees (minus Mike) last summer in VA Beach. 
I wanted 

to see them in 1986, but they came on Yom Kippur (the holiest day of the 
year in the 

Jewish faith), and I was unable to attend their concert. I vowed I'd see 
them the next time they came in

concert; that opportunity came ten years later. I must say, it was worth 
the wait!

recently on a Sunday afternoon at brand new Turner

As I sit here typing and watching 
VH1 the Monkee Marathon, this brings back so many childhood memories!  I 
still have all my old LP'S to listen to with all the cracks and pops in 
them to go along with it. Thank God for CD'S !!! I now have a new 
collection to listen to in my car!  Mickey, you are still the best!!!!!!

on VH1.  I've been waiting years for this day to come. The Monkees are

I used to watch them on Nick at Nite, but when they took it off the air, I 

was devastated.  Now they are back and you can be sure I will be watching. 

The Monkees ROCK!!!!!!! I love them. Ever since I was old enough to 
understand what was going on in the episodes I have liked their show.

It is soo funny. There's no violence or foul language or anything that 
would discourage any one from watching them. On VH1 it's rated for kids.

Too bad there aren't more shows like this on today. I love The

I saw 
them on VH1 monday, but I didn't like their format at all!

#1-They only showed the first eighteen episodes and the then started from

the beginning and showed the same eighteen againand then went to their 
regular programming.

They didn't even show any of the the episodes from their second season.

#2-While showing the episodes, some of the original footage was cut out of

each episode(almost). My advice is to just get the real stuff from Rhino!

They treat the Monkees like their royalty!

HEAD was one of the greatest films of the 60s. The Monkees were highly 

praised by John Lennon, Frank Zappa, Timothy Leary, and many other key

I'm a die 
hard Monkeys fan and have even joined the Rhino Fan club, I simple love 
Mickey and I have his cd of bed time songs, and Mike just looks fantastic 
now. My mother won me 2 tickets to see the Monkeys play at Six Flags in 
Dallas last year and my husband and I flew to Dallas for it and it was 
great.  Whats so wonderful about the Monkeys today is the people that 
attend are true fans and it's great to sing along and everyone is in 
harmony. I remember playing there albums to go to sleep by and trying to 
dream about them when i was a young girl. I still listen to today at the 
age of 38.

Thanks Davy, Micky, Peter and Mike, you help bring back great memories and

I love the Monkees and I'm glad that they 
made the right choice and came back.

The Monkees as a 
whole were prefab, true.  But the ingredients of that group not only had 
their own identities beforehand, they used those identities to take over 
the prefab entity and make it their own.



The boys did not become the prefab four...the prefab four became the boys!

in the 70's.  I would like to complete my collection of their albums on 
vinyl.

I saw reissues on sunburst records and am considering buying one or two if 
the sound 

quality is good.  The bonus tracks are a plus - and they are on colored 
vinyl.

Does anyone know if these are good quality vinyl and sound good?

Hi there everybody!! Just want to let you know I have been a Monkee 
fan for 31 years now so I guess you could say "I am older than 
dirt" but that doesn't bother me. What does bother me is some of the 
items in this guestbook. I know I should not probably take it seriously 
(and probably not even believe it!!!) but I kind-of feel like I have too!!! 
I don't mind if Davy's girlfriend is 24 ( she played Princess Intervine on 
their ABC special) but that "OTHER MONKEE" asking that 13 year 
old girl to go to bed (even if he's joking) is totally disgusting!!!!! I am 
afraid he knew what he was doing and this disappoints me!!! Oh well...thats 
just me. But I am now NOT going to be starting a fan club for this 
individual like I had intended on doing!!!!! SORRY!!!!!!!

Hello there! Just a quick message 
to say that I am a Monkee fan from way back in the dark ages when they 
first started, and I always will be! I've been to four of their concerts 
and I'm hoping that they will be playing in the Detroit area again this 
year so that my family and I can attend. I like their latest album very 
much (particularly, "It's Not Too Late") and I hope that they 
know that we fans always knew they were a REAL band,
"Headquarters" proved that! By the way, that is still one of my 
all time favorite albums to listen to! Anyhow, I just want to send my love

I've loved the Monkee's since they first started on TV.  
I think that their popularity is something that they have truely earned.  
It is great to see that after all this time they still have what it takes 
to be considered an excellent rock group.  They truely are a mile marker in

better than okay, but alas he's not my Micky.  Mike does have nice eyes, 
and his winks are very sexy, but, again, he's not my Micky.  I love Micky's 
eyes and his smile (just as you mentioned).  His eyes sparkle with his 
mischief, and they light up when he smiles. I especially love his eyes when

sure am excited about the Monkees TV show being back on TV!  I remember 
watching it everyday while home from school with the chicken pox when I was 
little.  I'm only 19, but I grew up listening to "oldies", and 
still love the music.  The music will live on!!! 

Though my favorite band is not the Monkees, I think I 
can say they come in a VERY close second. Probably because I learned about 
them through the Beatles. But I definitly think the Monkees is the best

I love the monkees.  I only 
started watching them last week on the VH1 marathon and I'm hooked.  I 
wasn't going to watch it because I stupidly had been listening to criticism 
instead of watching them and judging for myself.  I really regret that 
because I ended up missing their ABC special.  I think they are wonderful, 
gifted musicians and actors.  I love their music and show.  It is now 
definately my favorite show.

I have been a monkee fan since I 
was 13 yrs old, I am now 44 and I still love them. My  favorite monkee is 
Davy Jones. I met him in 1968 in New York and I still have his authograph , 
he signed his name and drew a letter flower next to it.  I hope to meet him 
again if the Monkees perform in the New York area.  I also have all the 
original albums the Monkees recorded. I am glad they are all doing fine,  
They were the pioneers as far as videos go.  During the times of the 
Monkees was the best time of my life.

    I thought I'd share a little story:  I was 
eight in l967, and totally in love with the Monkees.  My older sister had a 
boyfriend who heartlessly informed me one day that the Monkees did not 
perform any of their music.  I was so upset.  What a terrible thing to tell 
a child about her idols.  I refused to believe it, and defended my heroes.  
Of course, I found out years later that it was sort of true.  But I also
found out more recently that the two albums that I owned and listened to at 
that time, namely Headquarters and Pisces, Aquarius,etc.,were actually 
performed by the Monkees. So, I can now, after all these years, feel 
justified in my defense of my heroes, and my sister's boyfriend (thank God 
she didn't marry that creep!) can go to you know where. I still love the 
Monkees, still have my albums, and saw them in concert last summer.  It 
took 30 years, but I finally got to see them in person.  My eight year old 
son is growing his hair out to look like Peter.  There isn't any generation 
gap in our house!  . By the way, the moral of the story is this: don't 
believe every negative remark you read in this guestbook.  It's all 
heresay, and like my sister's creepy boy- friend, those people may not have 
all their facts straight.

Hi, everybody! I'm an old Monkee fan from Brazil. I'm 32 and I'm 
pregnant now, but I remember watching The Monkees show on TV since I was 
very, very young... I spend a lot of time on this web site and the Home 
Page because here in my country it's very difficult to get material from 
the boys, such as pictures, news and so on. All I can say is that I love 
them all, with all my heart and soul, and before I found this site I spent 
years of my life thinking I was alone... Now I know I'm not! And this is

monkees constantly when I was growing up, and I really think its great that 
they are still around and loved after all these years.

Barbara Baggett/the mom is now 45 years old. In my teenage years I was
in love with Davy Jones, I kissed his picture every night.  For one of my
birthdays(13) I think, I was given a Monkee album.  I thought I was in 
heaven.  I played it all the time.  You guys are the greatest and I will
always remember you.  Good songs!  Better than today's songs!  Wish we 
could go back in time and could have the same for our kids!  Love ya

Just got back from the Bluebird Cafe in 
Nashville.....what a wonderful show it was. James Lee Stanley is wonderful, 
witty, Peter was great.  Was a bit disappointed when after the show, Peter 
went over to ask a young lady if she was free after the show....kinda 
thought he was "above" that type of rot...but alas, suppose the 
ole rock and roll mentality dies hard, even for a Monkee.

I have been a really big fan of the 
MONKEES for years! It's so great to hear they are touring again. I was 
lucky to go to their 20th anniversary concert. I was so excited! When they 
came out, I jumped up in my chair (a folding chair), the darn thing 
collapsed, and I bashed my head on the concrete floor! I hope to get a 
second chance to see them this time!

They have been my favorite group,since i was a litle kid. I like to watch

them in reruns. But, luckily a girlfriend had all their albums, which she 
didn't want! So, I got them much to my delight. People still think I'm 
crazy for liking them, even now. But Hey, they are a lot of fun.

I am sure I am one of the youngest 
fans of the Monkees.  I am twenty now and can remember watching the re-runs 
when I was much younger.  I can also remember going on road trips and 
listening to a tape of the Monkees that even my younger brother loved.  I 
think that the Monkees were and are a big part of the American 
entertainment culture, and I am ecstatic too see T.V. specials and The 
Monkees reruns being shown.

I've been a Monkees fan all 
my life.....When I was 5 my aunt gave me three original Monkee albums since 
she saw me watching the re-runs on TV all the time.  Those albums helped 
shape my musical tastes for the rest of my lift.  "Headquarters" 
was the best album the Monkees came out with in my honest opinion.  What a 
great group.

I attended 
the U2 concert, and theybroadcast their rendition of "Daydream 
Believer" during the intermission....the Words were shot up onto the 
huge video screen (as is we needed them....)

I'm male, 38, married with one 
daughter. You can imagine all the ribbing I get from my co-workers and 
friends when I disclose my loyalty to the Monkees. But I don't care. I 
think their contributions to rock and roll are far underestimated. TV Guide 
once called them the Milli Vinilli of the 60's. This outraged me. They may 
not have played their own music in the beginning, but the voices were ALL 
THEIRS! They never intended to fool anybody. Then they took all the 
adversity thrown at them, and made the best of it by actually becomming a 
real band. They didn't just go into "retirement".

Keep at it guys. Here's to more Monkees in the future.

and say hi. On Friday Jessie a.k.a. Shorty, brought a book to school that 
she had ordered from Rhino records.  I have to tell you that in one of 
those pictures Micky is beyond description. I wish I could show it to all 
the Micky lovers. (I'm being very generous because I know I'm the bigest)  
He is so incredible. I realize that I haven't thanked them (meaning the 
Monkees) yet.  Your music and your tv show have totally revolutionized me.  
I love you guys so much and I thank God every day for you.  I don't know 
how I got along before I discovered you.  And I don't know what I would do 
without you.  A lot of people don't understand that and I don't know if you 
guys realize the impact you had or have on people especially like me. But 
music mostly yours and the Beatles is a very large part of my life and I

Today May 4th, I bought tickets to see Davy, Micky, and Peter in person!!! 
This is going to be my second time. I pressed hang- up and redial for one 
hour. Then I pressed *66 every half an hour after that. After about 3 
hours, I FINALLY got through. So now me and 4 of my friends are going to 
see the fab four at North Shore Music Theater. There is probably really 
goog seats left, you should try to grab some, but to it FAST!!! See You

It's a shame that so much was 
made of the Monkees not playing the insturmental tracks on some of their 
recordings.  It seems that many groups of the 60's and 70's used the
services of studio musicians on their recordings.  Just to name a few we 
have Paul Revere and the Raiders,Herman's Hermits, The Association, The 
Grassroots, and this is just to name a few.  None of these bands were ever 
openly critisised for their record- ing practices and along with the 
Monkees they shouldn't be.  The Beach Boys were among the 60's groups that 
used session musicians on many of their records for the same reasons.  All 
of these bands were touring groups and really had to juggle their time 
between concert tours and recording.  And in the case of the Monkees, they 
had to film a TV series.  All of these groups could reproduce their own
sound on stage.  I saw each group mentioned in concert.  So I hope that 
when articles mention the Monkees not playing all of their own music,they 
mention that other groups used session men also.  By listening to 
Headquarters and Justus we Monkee fans know they could do it then and do it 
now.  Thanks for letting me vent this out to other Monkee fans. e.  These 
were all touring bands that had to juggle a schedule of touring and 
recording.  The Beach Boys fall into this
